Pirelli MT 90 Scorpion A/T Enduro Front Tire - 90/90V-21/-- Review

Riding my Kawasaki KL-250 (Super Sherpa) mostly on country roads and occaisionally on trails, I replaced the OEM Bridgestone Trail Wing tires with Pirelli Scorpions. For on-road use, the difference was immediate: smoother, more quiet ride, better handling--and less 'tire drag' made for faster acceleration. Performance on wet roads is good. Packed dirt and trails are handled respectably. Going on an off road adventure with serious dirt bikers, however, turned out to be quite the "adventure" on mud, silt and very rocky trails--very aggressive riding. I had to bring up the group's rear riding position. There were times that I might as well have been on ice. The Trail Wing tires would have been the better choice for this ride. Well, yes, I expected that! (Changing tires for this ride was not an option.) None-the-less, I survived the ride, and considering that I ride roads and much less extreme trails most of the time, the Pirelli Scorpions are good performers and a very good value. By design, dual sport bikes are a somewhat of a compromise and require much of tires. Tires should be selected considering the bulk of your riding conditions. The Trail Wings did not require any weights to balance. Both front and back Scorpions required weights to balance. This is not a problem, but I mention just for your information. I would purchase these MC tires again.
