Spectra Premium SP8001H Fuel Pump Assembly Review

Just a quick review on this pump. I did not give 5 stars because everything matched to my 88 Civic except the harness. I ended up sliding the wire pins out of the hold harness and using it on the new pump wires. I also had to tap in to the ground wire in the new harness as the OE has only 3 pins and the new harness came with 4. I also changed the fuel filter and cleaned out the tank. Upon I filling I added a little SeaFoam and the car fired right up and ran like a champ.

This kit provided comes with all necessary wiring components needed for the daytime light setup to work. The installer will need to acquire additional tools to determine a suitable power wire for DRL operation, removal of body components and securing the DRL module. I will emphasize on finding a suitable power as this was the hardest part of the installation procedure. After installation, I was very pleased with the operation of the day time running lights and how it adds to the overall look of the vehicle. If I had another X5, I would install this again. I will note the installation of this particular kit is not for the inexperienced and should be installed by a professional, or one who knows what wires to tap into, as the X5 has many, many expensive sensitive control modules that may fail if this kit is wired improperly. Excellent product.

Dorman 741-488 BMW X5 Front Driver Side Power Window Regulator with Motor Review

I am pretty new to car repairs, as I just started doing my own basic maintenance (oil/brakes/etc) about 6 months ago, so I was a little nervous doing this repair, however it was a breeze once I figured out how to get the door panel off of the X5. There was a line of metal tension clips at the top of the door panel that must be released by pulling the panel horizontally away from the door frame BEFORE lifting the panel up and off of the central clip.

The new regulator/motor was a perfect fit, easy to switch out, and when installed, works great. I can't tell any difference between this and the OEM one when I first got the car.

My only complaint is that I had already removed the panel and glass when I found the 2 plastic window clips which secure the bottom of the window pane to the regulator arms were both damaged (hence part of the problems I was having - regulator also damaged). I had to drive to the dealership in rush hour traffic to pick up two $0.85 pieces of plastic. Dorman should include 3-4 of these with each order in case you accidentally break one during the install or if you need a replacement down the road. Such a cheap part should be replaced when you do this job anyway.

Easy and quick install, but in no way will this allow a "quick" dismount of the windshield. If you're going to want to take your shield off without a hassle then this is not the mounting kit you want. That said, it is a quality product and installed on my 2003 800 Classic without issue.
