This seems to be a good working alternator but I ran into a problem installing it when the old one looked nothing like, and the car ('91 capri XR2) didn't have the right connection for, this new alternator. But this one looks just like the one in the repair book. I just ended up clipping off the plug and rewiring the ends with a generic spade. My guess is that someone just replaced it before and rigged the wiring differently.

The quirk I've discovered is that when you start the car the alternator doesn't work. I could cruise around on battery power for hours showing under 12 volts. But when I rev above 4k rpm it kicks up to 14 like it should be and will sit there even at idle until you turn the car off. And when you start it back up....12 volts or under again. So I'm left just reving the car every time I start it. Not that bad of a thing to have to do. Could be worse.
